A First-hand account of Little Therese’ Canonization

May 14, 1925

"You will be glad to know that our greatest Immaculate Queen and our dear Little Flower have arranged everything for the Archbishop and myself in a most beautiful manner in order that we might have the great honor of assisting at the Canonization on Sunday, May 17th in Rome.

"You can see, dear Mother, that the dear Little Saint has been most kind to the Archbishop and myself and that she has determined that we should have the extraordinary honor of assisting at her Canonization and of representing the Philippine Islands, and in a most especial manner her own dearest Sisters of the Jaro Carmel through the little Bishop of Jaro.

How good is our God to have inspired and permitted me to establish a Carmel – a Paradise on Earth, where Jesus may ever find a sweet repose among loyal, loving friends, as He did in the holy home of Nazareth with His Immaculate Mother Mary and her most chaste spouse Joseph, in my little diocese in the far-away Islands of the Pacific.

When the New Carmel is finished and my dearest children are happily installed and well provided for, then I should like to go to Heaven under my guide, my sister Saint Therese of Lisieux, to personally invite our loving Jesus, His Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and St. Therese, our Little Flower, - to come and dwell among you forever in this earthly Paradise.

It was only on November 6, 1925 that the Discalced Carmelite nuns of Jaro transferred permanently in their monastery.

Novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus

September 22 – 30

O glorious St. Therese, you whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind, we implore your intercession, so powerful are you in obtaining every grace we need, that not without reason does holy Mother the Church proclaim you “A Prodigy of Miracles… the greatest Saint of Modern Times.” Fervently we now beseech you to answer our petitions (here mention your petition) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven in doing good upon earth… of letting fall from heaven a shower of roses.

V. Pray for us St. Therese of the Child Jesus

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

Let us pray…

O God who did inflame with your spirit of love your servant St. Therese of the Child Jesus, grant that we also may love You and make you much loved. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
